IMPORTANT TAX INFORMATION
We want to keep you informed about recent legislative
changes that may affect your business. Please see the
information below for sales tax and wage changes that take
place on Sunday, October 1, 2006.
Reminder
Beginning Sunday, October 1, the 7% sales tax will be
extended to certain services, including:
furnishing of space for storage
tanning services
massage services (exempting medically prescribed
services)
tattooing, including permanent body art and permanent
cosmetic make-up
investigation and security services
magazines and periodicals
information services
landscaping services
limousine services originating in this State (except
as provided in connection with funeral services)
initiation fees, membership fees or dues for access
to or use of the property or facilities of a health and
fitness, athletic, sporting or shopping club or
organization (except for membership in a club or
organization whose members are predominantly age 18 or
under)
parking, storing or garaging a motor vehicle (except
for employee parking, municipal metered parking and
parking subject to municipal parking taxes)

New Law
Beginning Sunday, October 1, New Jersey's hourly minimum
wage will increase by one dollar to $7.15.
The federal minimum wage rate
remains at $5.15 an hour. The legislation increasing the
minimum wage also created a permanent New Jersey Minimum
Wage Advisory Commission to annually evaluate the state's
minimum wage.
